The idea to form a Senior Citizens' League arose in 1969 when Walney Park bowler Jimmy Linn approached three Vickerstown Institute bowlers and floated the idea of forming a League.  The three Institute bowlers were Bill Wray, Joe Dickinson and Charlie Roberts and so the idea was born.  The four collectively contacted other Clubs throughout the Furness area inviting them to an open meeting, following which eight teams committed to the formation of the League, commencing in 1970.  Such was the success of the League, ,numbers had doubled by 1981 increasing to our current level of thirty two with teams waiting for a vacancy to arise to gain entry.

As a further move with the times the League will have their own website from 2017, coinciding with their first sponsor in the form of Deltawaite Ltd, who have strong roots within the Furness area.  The League Management Committee are truly appreciative of the support they have afforded us.  A link to their website can be acheived by  clicking on the picture above.
